About

I am Hays Hutton. I work as an engineer on infrastructure, signed metadata, and the systems that sit underneath things people deploy. I photograph as a practice that runs alongside the engineering — not in opposition to it.

The two surfaces share a method. Both reward sustained attention. Both are improved more by what I leave out than by what I add. The essays here describe specific things I have done; they are not proposals, manifestos, or reading recommendations. The photographs live at hayshutton.photography.

Selected work and references appear in individual essays. There is no consolidated CV on this site by design — if you need one, the GitHub profile is a working substitute, and I am reachable by email at the obvious address.
